By the time you reach the end, you may feel exhilarated or subdued, or like you’re coming off a peyote high.

Mandate

We create projects that blur the line between theatre, film, and digital forms. Each work begins with a simple question: how can people feel more connected? Rather than keeping audiences at a distance, we bring them to the centre—sometimes as witnesses, sometimes as co-authors. What matters to us are the moments of beauty that surface when people step into the work together.

History

Established in 2003 as a home for the interdisciplinary projects of Halifax-based actor/writer/tinkerer Dustin Harvey, Secret Theatre has since grown into a gathering point for many people and places—some passing through, some returning, some still to come. Each production is built around creating meaningful, shared experiences that are thoughtful, intimate, and temporary.

Moving between dance, live art, public art, and theatre, Secret Theatre’s work has been presented at internationally recognized festivals and events across Canada, as well as in Wales, Denmark, Ireland, Iceland, and Scotland.
